  4. "if you can imagine taking the nightmares of Giger and the dystopian scope of Beksinski one step further , then you can imagine the work of Paul Gerrard"

                                                                                                    Jonathan Liebesman : Film Director

Getting straight to the point, the paintings of Paul Gerrard have a style and imagination all of their own. He knows our dreams, our fears and sees deep into the darkest human soul, however twisted or macabre that may be. Yet there is a lighter side, the side of ethereal creatures and spiritual grounds, but don’t stay there too long mind, sounds of twisting bark and bone , the steam from a decayed insane machine, are all a heartbeat away.  A quote the French painter Eric Scala ……

"When my eye stops, I stop, for minute, then for an hour...let me introduce to you Paul Gerrard's world...the smoke of the heavy bikes, that carnal vampire. Weapons of the guardians.. We’ve got the same ingredients inside but we don’t have the same recipe, and I like his recipe, the sense's recipe"

Paul’s artwork has been exhibited at the Wave Gottec Treffen event in Leipzig, Germany. The first of a European exhibition tour. These exhibitions range from underground music events, pagan gathering and tattoo conventions to alternative dark wave festivals where over 3000 visitors drop by and see his work. More recently at the Last Rites Gallery in New York ( Aug 2009 ) as a teaser for his main show in DEC 09.

From 2002 -2008 Paul worked in computer games, with Industry giants such as Infograms / Atari and Ubisoft as an Art Director and teacher.  As part of Ubisoft Global, worked in India for 6 months developing a 150+ new studio, hiring / teaching artists, and animators and setting clear art direction for various game titles. Taking the opportunity whilst there to write and illustrate the epic and surreal story of the Butterfly Soldiers .

It wasn’t long before Paul’s imagination and unique way of working caught the eye of Hollywood. In concept art his work excels in creating mood and atmospheric scenes.  A visceral blend of immense detail and scope created super fast even for concept work. This is not ordinary concept art; Paul has a way of visualizing and creating scenes from his mind, recreating them with intense realism and style for directors alike. Work recently wrapped up on the movie BATTLE LOS ANGELES. Paul worked with the Director from the beginning, creating artwork for the pitch then  further more creating over 300 illustrations for pre-production phase.  Concepting and illutrating every aspect of the aliens / machines / locations of the film.

So what is next for the artist…  ." Film work has become a great interest of mine, something I hope to return to at one point. I am currently concentrating on personel work after working flat out for almost a year on two full time projects . Creating the worlds and creatures in my head has become an almost spiritual experience of late. I feel connected somehow to these other places. The more time I spend there the less time I want to spend in physical world . Foxgerhard is also calling, but perhaps an amalgamation of art and music, we will see..  ‘’ Paul Gerrard
